About the Client

The client is a food service company in Iceland that provides corporate lunch delivery for companies. Altabel initially partnered with the client to build an internal system for managing corporate lunch orders. As the client’s business vision evolved, the solution needed to move beyond a single internal system and become a platform that could serve multiple companies and partners.

Objective

The initial objective was to create a user-friendly system for managing corporate lunch orders. Over time, the product goal expanded into building a scalable multi-tenant platform that could onboard independent companies, provide centralized control and analytics, support both profit and non-profit operating models, and prepare the business for future growth.

Solution

Our team has developed a convenient web-based portal for corporate lunch ordering, designed to help companies streamline the meal ordering process for their employees. The platform includes three key roles: Portal Admin, Company Admin, and Company Employee, each with its own set of features. 

Portal Admin

The role responsible for managing the entire system and ensuring its smooth operation.

Features:

• Adds and manages dishes, creating a diverse and comprehensive menu
• Creates weekly menus for companies to choose from
• Approves registrations of new companies
• Views all orders and manages dish prices
• Manages email notifications 

Company Admin

A representative of the company who configures the platform for their employees and oversees the process.

Features:

• Registers their company (requires approval from the Portal Admin)
• Invites employees to join the platform
• Configures order settings (delivery type, available days, payment method: company-paid or individually by employees)
• Places group orders for employees, streamlining the process for team-wide meal coordination
• Views the order history of the company's employees 

Company Employee

The end user of the platform who places lunch orders based on the settings configured by the Company Admin.

Features:

• Joins the platform via an invitation from the
• Company AdminPlaces lunch orders based on the payment method set by the Company Admin
• Configures personal information, including dietary preferences and allergy details, ensuring orders align with their needs
• Views their personal order history

Result

The solution was transformed from a single-purpose internal system into a scalable SaaS platform. The client can now onboard new companies, manage tenant operations centrally, support different organizational models, and expand the platform beyond a single company or partner structure.
