Enhancing IoT and SCADA Reliability for Real-Time Operations

About the Client

The client is a Swiss engineering company developing a modular industrial IoT and SCADA platform for digitalization, automation and real-time monitoring across manufacturing, logistics and building infrastructure.

Objective

The client’s main goal was to strengthen the reliability of its industrial IoT platform and accelerate development of critical .NET/WPF modules.

Solution

The client’s industrial IoT platform connects equipment and operational systems through OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, REST, and KNX. It combines real-time monitoring, dashboards, automation, maintenance workflows, and ERP/CMMS integrations in a modular architecture suitable for both individual machines and multi-site environments.

Altabel assigned a senior .NET/WPF engineer to strengthen core platform modules and improve production stability.

Maintenance module

Implemented maintenance tracking based on runtime, time intervals, and configurable rules, while improving event history and documentation to support more proactive servicing.

Scheduling module

Fixed task execution issues and stabilized recurring jobs such as data updates and report generation.

Event history and search

Improved filtering and added dual-criteria search to help operators find relevant records faster during investigations and equipment reviews.Together, these updates improved platform reliability and simplified day-to-day monitoring and maintenance workflows.

Result

The updated modules were adopted into the production environment and improved the platform’s stability and diagnostic workflows. After the planned work was completed, the project was handed over to the client’s internal team for further development. Altabel remains in contact with the client and periodically discusses potential areas for future work as the platform evolves.
